Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Due to expected difficulty sighting the crescent moon on Friday, May 22, the final Eid-ul-Fitr announcement will be made no later than 11:00 pm on Friday night (May 22), In-Shaa-ALLAH. Please check your email or visit your Islamic Center website and Facebook page for announcements and other related details.

EID PRAYERS

As you all know, we’re facing an era of COVID-19 pandemic and going through an unprecedented Ramadan. After the careful deliberation of local Imams and Masajid leadership teams, we will not be holding an in-person community Eid-ul-Fitr salah. This is due to the continuing risk level of COVID-19 transmission being high. The health and safety of individuals and the larger community takes precedence in this case.

Given our current situation, we advise families to observe all of the Sunnahs of Eid (of taking a ghusl, eating breakfast, wearing one’s best garments, saying the general takbīrat after Fajr, etc.) and then praying a congregational prayer at home with their own families, with the special takbīrat of Eid. The prayer itself is to be held the morning of the 1st day of Shawwal by praying two rakaats with extra takbirs as is usually done each year. After the first takbir to enter the prayer, seven more are made. When a person stands for the second rakaah they make five additional takbirs to the transitional takbir.

Inshaa Allah, the unified Masajid of Austin will be holding a live broadcast as follows:
8:30 am: Online community takbirs (broadcast links will be sent with the final announcement)
9:00 am: Individual prayers at home with an in-person Imam from each respective household
9:15 am: Online Eid Message, jointly delivered by Sh Islam Mossaad & Sh Atiya Emarah (broadcast links will be sent with the final announcement)
Please note that the Eid message will be recorded and will be available for viewing later by anyone who missed the scheduled time above.
We ask Allah SWT to lift the affliction of the COVID-19 pandemic and keep all of us safe and healthy. We ask Allah SWT to accept all your good deeds. Ameen.
We request your prayers and support in our endeavors.

Eid Mubarak from all of us
